MINUTES
Meeting of Education Committee of he Homeopathic Medical Board
December 14, 2001 at 7:00 P. M.
Held at the
Board Office

Las Vegas, NV 89121

1. Call meeting to order: roll call, determination of a quorum.
Phillip Minton, Committee Chairman, opened the meeting at 7:03 p.m.

Members Present:
Phillip Minton, Chairman, Stuart Currie, Fuller Royal

Staff Present:
Kimberly Reese, Executive Director
Robert Bryant, Deputy Attorney General (by phone)

Member of the Public: Dr. Gregory Olson
2. General Discussion

A. The committee reviewed and discussed suggested recommendations made by the committee members pertaining to NAC 630A.098.

Motion: Fuller Royal moved to require each holder of a license or certificate to sign a declaratory statement that he/she understands NAC 630A.096, and has obtained the required 20 continuing education credits, and is prepared to provide evidence of doing such if requested by the board.
Second: Stuart Currie
Action: Passed Unanimously

Motion: Fuller Royal moved to recommend to the board that the board formally request from NHIMA standards used by the association to determine if a course, meeting, or other material presented to NHIMA for approval for continuing education credits.
Second: Stuart Currie
Action: Passed unanimously

Motion: Phillip Minton moved to recommend that the board request the written criteria used by NHIMA to determine qualifications for satisfactory continuing education courses, lectures, workshops.
Second: Stuart Currie
Action: Passed unanimously

B. Public Comment - Dr. Greg Olson, Chairman of the NHIMA Education committee, reported on activities of the state association, and made suggestions as to how NHIMA and the board could work together to resolve any confusion in regards to continuing education requirements.
